HUNTING IN THE EASTERN CAPE

The Eastern Cape has proven to be the fastest growing hunting territory in South Africa, in recent years. Other than the natural beauty, settlers history, ability to offer the sea, safari and variety of recreations in one place, one important reason is diversity of its flora and fauna. The Eastern Cape is the most ecologically diverse region of Southern Africa. From towering mountains to semi-desert plains, Cape Fynbos to Valley Bushveld, from the king of the hunts; the Kudu to the smallest of the trophies, the Duieker... the Eastern Cape has it all.

TERRAIN AND HUNTING AREAS
The Eastern Cape contains Fynbos along the coastal belt and moves inland to the ragged mountains of the Karoo belt where we encounter semi-desert conditions, combined with savannahs and plateaus. Indigenous plains game prefer a variety of habitats. While Bushbuck populate the thick coastal bush, Kudu and Reedbuck dominate the mountains. The savannah is home to grazers like Zebra, Wildebeest, Blessbuck and Springbok. Impala are found in the broken Bushveld where thick cover is readily available.
Although hunting is more enjoyable in winter, we conduct hunting throughout the year, in the adequately enclosed hunting concessions, where conservation of the game is managed.

TYPE OF HUNTS
We focus our expertise in four major areas;

In Trophy hunting, the aim is to take trophy size game and is conducted by glassing for suitable quality game. From then on, the stalk commences. Sporting is equally enjoyable and very affordable. In sporting, the aim is to take trophy size indigenous game as below. Hunting is usually by stalking or in drive/beat hunts if a large group of hunters prefer to hunt together. In sporting, the hunter simply enjoys the experience and takes a picture as a memento of his hunt. This is ideal for those who have shot their trophy and do not wish to collect the same trophy again, yet still enjoys the hunt. Sporting is also advisable for introducing hunters to African game, especially for those who haven’t hunted in Africa before. It is possible to shoot a trophy game during the sporting hunt and / or take the trophy of the sporting game, with additional cost.
